What a successful premiere! Around 800 exhibitors at didacta 2008 were delighted with the debut event at the New Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre. With a record number of visitors (over 83,000), teachers from all areas of education demonstrated their enormous interest in the industry’s most important event for further education/further training and made full use of the range of exhibits and the comprehensive accompanying programme.

More than 1,500 talks, workshops and podium discussions offered visitors the opportunity to receive some valuable further training, learn about new trends, exchange information and discuss aspects of educational policy. Exhibitors and visitors praised the exhibition programme, the clear division of the exhibition halls, the perfect transport connections and the modern infrastructure.
In 2011 teachers, educators, trainers and other educational specialists will again be able to obtain information in Stuttgart about the latest topics in the changing education landscape.

In practically no other German federal state is so much importance attached to educational policy as in southwest Germany. For example, Baden-Württemberg invests the highest proportion of budgetary funds in Germany in education (more than 40 per cent of the state’s budget). A large number of educational institutions such as universities, technical colleges and academies enjoy an excellent reputation all over the world. One of the main reasons for this is also undoubtedly the economic strength of Baden-Württemberg and the Stuttgart region.
There is a lot to see and discover in one of Germany’s most beautiful cities: museums, galleries, theatre, ballet, orchestras, refreshing mineral baths and fantastic musicals. The genuine highlights for culture lovers include the multi-award winning Art Museum, the crowd-pulling Mercedes Benz and Porsche Museums, and the world-renowned State Gallery. As the pulsating state capital of Baden-Württemberg, Stuttgart contains a wide range of attractions for every visitor.
